Arturo Fuente Cigars

Founded in 1912 in West Tampa, Florida, Arturo Fuente is one of the oldest continuously family-owned cigar makers in the world — now in its fourth generation under Carlos Fuente Sr., Carlos "Carlito" Fuente Jr., and Cynthia Fuente. Fire destroyed the original factory. So did a second one. The family rebuilt each time, eventually relocating operations to Santiago in the Dominican Republic, where Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia produces some of the most respected cigars ever made.

Why Arturo Fuente Matters

Few names carry the same weight behind a humidor counter. The Fuente family pioneered Dominican-grown wrapper leaf at Chateau de la Fuente — a feat most of the industry insisted was impossible — and that work produced the legendary OpusX. Below that, the Hemingway series with its perfectly executed perfecto shapes, the Don Carlos line, and the everyday Gran Reserva have all become benchmarks that other manufacturers measure themselves against.

Blend & Character

  • Origin: Handmade in Santiago, Dominican Republic
  • Wrappers: Connecticut Shade, Cameroon, Ecuadorian Sungrown, Dominican-grown, and Broadleaf Maduro
  • Filler: Aged Dominican long-filler
  • Body: Mild to medium-full across the range
  • Flavor notes: Cedar, sweet cream, toasted nuts, leather, and warm baking spice

Who It's For

Arturo Fuente is where most serious collections begin and where a lot of them end up returning. Construction is exceptional across every price point, and the range is broad enough that a mild Connecticut morning cigar and a rich Cameroon evening smoke both live under the same name.
