How to Choose a Cigar Ashtray

• Match the notch to your ring gauge. A notch under 60 ring will pinch or roll larger cigars; oversized notches let a cigar roll and go out early.
• Weight matters outdoors. A light tray in a breeze is a fire hazard waiting to happen — go heavier for patio or porch use.
• Count your notches to your group size, not the number of guests — most sessions run one cigar at a time per person, but a spare notch avoids ash buildup crowding a lit cigar.
• Check the base on crystal and glass trays for felt or cork padding if it'll sit on wood furniture.
