Rocky Patel Decade Cigars
Rocky Patel released Decade in 2007 to mark ten years in the cigar business, and it has stayed in the lineup ever since — a rare thing for an anniversary release. Decade earned a 95-point rating and a spot near the top of Cigar Aficionado's year-end list, and it remains one of the most consistently praised cigars in the Patel portfolio.
The Blend
Decade is built around a dark, oily Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper aged well beyond the industry norm, laid over Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos selected for richness rather than raw power. Every component is aged before rolling and the finished cigars rest again before release — which is why Decade smokes smooth out of the box instead of needing a year in the humidor.
Blend & Character
- Wrapper: Aged Ecuadorian Sumatra
- Binder: Nicaraguan
- Filler: Nicaraguan
- Origin: Handmade in Honduras
- Body: Medium-full
- Flavor notes: Sweet cedar, cocoa, roasted coffee, caramel, and a peppery spice on the retrohale
What to Expect
Decade opens with sweet wood and cocoa, builds gradually toward espresso and pepper, and holds together through the final third without turning bitter. The burn is dependable and the draw is typically excellent. Plan on an hour with the Toro.
